No, they don't "HAVE" to be matched. Having a matched quad will
distribute the current more evenly and probably extend the life
of the tubes. I had a tube loose it's seal in one. They were
RCA brand and I replaced it with a single Cetron. Ran just
fine, even with mixed brands.
