Classic 3-1000z circuits have the grid grounded, 
the cathode using a tuned circuit. For best operation 
degeneration resistors in the cathode as described 
are good practice.

Parasitic Suppressors are pretty much a "must 
have."  Careful construction of the final box is 
prudent to prevent VHF oscillation/activity.

Snooping around the completed circuit with 
a grid dip meter is a great idea. Check the box 
close in the lower VHF regions.
