Boy, this is a lot easier than I would have expected!
Glenn, AE0Q, from Alpha Power sent me a note describing in some detail =
the steps necessary to gather the diagnostic data to determine the =
fault. But the first thing to try was to unplug the amp for a minute =
and try again. That's all it took; my Alpha 87A powered up just fine. =
Glenn indicated that possibly stray RF got into the microprocessor, and =
it's always getting 12V even when the power switch is off.
I think Alpha Power went above and beyond the call of duty to respond in =
this way. I was going to connect my computer to the amp to get some =
diagnostic data when I had a free evening, but before I got a chance to =
do this, Glenn jumped in and solved the problem before I even contacted =
him!
Needless to say, I'm quite pleased with the help from Alpha Power! =
Thanks, Glenn!
Now back into those pileups!
