A:
Has the Heathkit been upgraded and/or modified to
the latest improvements?
(If you follow the SB-220 threads then you
know that '220's are prone to a series of
MTBF breakdowns that wise operators
predict and prepare for.)
( All these mods may end up
costing hundreds of dollars.)
The '220 is one of the finest American
linear amplifiers ever produced, and
mint editions with full mods bring $1200.
The 2KD-5 might have more parts available
for replacement and repair at this time.
What tube cooling system does the 'KD use
versus the Heath cooling system??????
Best of luck with whatever you choose!
