Mike,

Very nice explanation as to the application differences between silver and 
gold.  One aspect of the discussion that may be worth discussing is the 
difference in seating/unseating contact repeatability between silver and 
gold plating connections.  Examples that come to mind are PC Board edge 
connectors and the reliability of a pressure contact made on a R.F. roller 
inductor. All other things being equal (including plating thickness), is one 
type of plating any better than the other for long-term mechanical reasons?
