I'm from the old school. I use the smallest wire that I need to hold up the
antenna without breaking. I have had a 160 meter dipole between two 100'
high trees that are 400' apart. For that job I used #9 copper clad steel
surplus rail road signal wire. The span was to long for # 12 CC in the New
England winters. I just pruned it with my MFJ to give me the best match on
my desired frequency. The short comment is I pay more attention to the
mechanical parameters than the radiation issues up to a point.

I agree its a bit off-topic, but I think many might agree its a bit more
interesting than some of the junk on here.

One persons junk is anothers treasure, try and remember that.

Any votes for what is most interesting - this or parasitic oscillations?

You must not be a regular forum reader. That discussion was terminated a few

years ago.

It is not a troll. I think you are the only person to think so.

Add me to the list. You would probably find the Antennex forum more to your
liking. Some members can take the most ridiculous subject to months of
drivel. Im sure that fresh meat would be welcome(;
