        The "1000" refers to the 4CX1000A tube and the "1500" refers to the 
4CX1,500B.  Do not mix up the 4CX1,500A with this bunch.  It is a very 
different tube, with a very different base, and requires a special, very 
different, socket.

          Either the 4CX1,000A or the 4CX1,500B will work fine in the 30S-1.  I 
suggest the 1500B because of its extra grid dissipation, and, usually, it is 
much less expensive to buy.  The extra plate dissipation is really meaningless 
because the design of the amp makes it virtually impossible, with normally 
available driving power, to produce enough power to be concerned about plate 
dissipation.  Think about it.
