I just plug mine in and let it rip. That is one rugged tube. When I
first build my 4-1000 just for kicks I plugged in a 4-1000 I picked up at
a
HAMFEST for $1. It looked real bad and my intent was only to use it for
working out the spacing, etc. Well the filaments lit up with power, it
didn't
arc with high voltage (5500 volts) and it put out over 1KW. It's been
almost 20 years and the tube is still going strong.
