The computer industry commonly double stacks fans in 1U and 2U server boxes
and
in "blade" style chassis. Some go so far as to use ducted fan bodies to
increase
flow. No heat issues as far as the fans are concerned and they've been
doing
that for many years. Computer fans almost always die from bearing failure.
Stay away from sleeve bearings. If you get the ones with the tach sensor,
you could actually alarm on fan low speed or fail and know you were in
trouble.
