Well, I did a little more Googling and found this in the QRZ forums:
That kit was originally shipped on two boxes.
one contained the transformer the other contained the rest
of the parts.
It was fun to put together took two evenings.
This was back when the kit cost $389.95 new and the 3-500Z's
were $39.00 a peace.

Subject: Re: [Amps] Heathkit SB-220
Joe, I built 2 SB-220 amps back in the day. If you don't see the tubes in
the original #1 box you have there then they were packed seperately. As I
recall everything was in one box except maybe the tubes. Lou

Does anyone recollect how the Heathkit SB-220 came packaged originally?
We've found a NEW unassembled SB-220 Box 1 of 2 as part of an estate.
We haven't found Box 2 yet but it may be there somewhere.
I'm looking to see if there's a parts breakdown by box somewhere.
I have a digital PDF copy of the manual but find no reference to BOX 1 or 2.
I guess I could take the parts list and count up everything in Box 1 and
assume everything else is in box 2.
But I'd rather not break the kit apart if possible.
Thanks for any help.
