Thanks to everyone for replying on this topic.

Confirming the metering in my Commander II was made by Prime.

The Commander II is a single multimeter where most if not all the HF1250/2500
series amps were dual meters.

Is the concensus that Commanders HF metering are likely the same physical
device from Prime?

By physical I mean the X-Y of the bexel opening? Sans possible internal
resistor values etc.

Or for the Ameritron substitute, was there any mechanical work in substituting
those meters?

Thanks again…

I've replaced bad Commander meters with Ameritron meters. They are the same
meter physically and the scale should fit but you would have to check the
resistance of the meter to see if it is the same. If I recall the meter
resistance on the Commander amps is 500 ohms and I think the Ameritron meters
are a little less. Being less is OK so all you need is a series resistor that
can be put inside the meter. I have opened Ameritron meters and they have
added resistance to suit their circuit. I suppose you can add accordingly to
make it work for the Commander. But the Commander meters are Prime and so are
the Ameritron meters.

I purchased a Commander HF 2500 in the 90s and bought new replacements
from Pat for the unique components.

I unwrapped one of the meters and couldn't find a part number, however, it
was marked, "Prime, Cleveland Ohio". The note written to myself with the
meter states , " Pat told me the two meters are identical, but have
different face plates (scales).

I hope this helps.
