Hi all
My Acom 2000A developed an arc fault right before the contest this weekend.
These are the symptoms:
- after heat up you can switch from stand by to operation
- when you TX it goes right away into protection mode with the predominant
message "arc fault"
- sometimes it evens do that by just standing in operation mode without TX ing
- I get also the message "antenna relay closed it should be open" and "HV
voltage to low 0.8 Kv"
- Readings in RX mode all seems to be OK (2.40 Kv HV, Mains 223V)
RF connectors, RCA TX connector, antenna, etc are all good.
I suspected initially the vacuum relay, but Acom says if I do not see a drop in
RX when switching from stand by to operation it should be good.... ? There is
no drop in RX
I got the same issue a couple of times during WPX last March, but at the time a
simple reset got me going again without issues, a reset does not help now....
An email to Acom did not help much (I miss Val who helped me troubleshooting /
repairing tremendously before) as they just send me a couple of repair shops in
the US to contact. But shipping this beast out from here is a no-no for now.....
Any advice or tips to repair this highly welcome.
