John (A.K.A Scotty) is K0DQ who is/was a contester of some notoriety operating
at W3GRF and some significant XE operations in the ARRL DX Test back a few
years.

I'm sure some of you have run Field Day on 5 watt battery class. I am
contemplating same, going 1A with packet, maybe VHF/UHF and satellite if
we can find a rig which will run off 12v.
Power source may be bank of car type batteries with solar panel, maybe 200
amps worth with 50 amp panel.
What success have you had with similar array, or, what seems to work for this
class? All ideas gratefully received, as I am dragging my club into this
class which we have never worked.

availability of a 2m/440 rig.
Is there any hope of working RS-12 for the satellite bonus points?

As an active RTTY contestor/DXer I can unequivocally say that PACTOR is
not used for contesting or DXing, and neither is AMTOR, Clover, or G-TOR.
Even though they are "error free" modes, they do not work well in a
pileup situation. The good ol Baudot RTTY is the only way to go for
contesting and pileups. Despite potential for errors, multiple calls can
be copied in a pileup. In the other modes, only one signal can "connect"
at a time, as with packet. If any of you have tried to work MIR or the
shuttle on VHF packet, you know what I mean.
You may find DX on PACTOR, etc. but for "regular" QSOs only.

JA1ELY who is the sponsor of the JIDX contest asked me to organize the
contest committee in last Nov. Now the 9men committee has been discussing
for the future JIDX contest.
This email log acception is the experimental one for the next contest
(PH in Nov.) but offcourse they are same status as printed logs.
I believe this experiment will be reflected well in the new rule.

suggestion, comment or rule change ideas will also be greately appreciated.

Subject: 1993 California QSO Party Results/Awards mailed
(AD6E isn't on the Internet yet, so I'll relay -- Bob, N6TV)
The last of the Calif QSO Party results & awards are in the mail. There
were over 300 wine glasses given out as a good effort participation award,
40 bottles of special NCCC private reserve Cabernet given out to the top
single operators, and a lot of nice certificates. The reason for the long
dwell time between the October contest (CQP) and now, is that we have been
trying to make as many personal award/results deliverys as possible to
minimize our mailing expense. The first round of awards were given out at
the NCCC awards banquet in March. The second round was at the Visalia DX
convention. A few more were handed out at Dayton by W0YK. Finally, those
remaining awards were mailed this week. If you think you should have received
something, and it doesn't arrive by the END of May (pse give the PO a chance
to do its thing), then let me know.
FYI, to get a bottle of wine, you need be a single operator and be in the
top 20 inside CA, or top 20 outside CA. To get a personalized certificate,
you need to submit a log with at least 100 QSOs. The wine glasses went to
anyone who submitted a log showing at least 25 QSOs.
Its not too early to start thinking about the next CQP: OCT 1 & 2 1994
If you didn't submit a log for the last CQP and would like info on the next
one, let me know and I'll make sure you get the official announcment when it
comes out in Sept. If you have any other comments or ideas about the greatest
of all QSO parties, drop me a line or two here on DXPSN.

Hi, I'm looking for anyone that may have docs for above tower. The
particular model number is unknown, but, it is a self-supporter,
crank up, fold over, 40' max, nests to 20'. Tower mounts to a
metal post that has 'fins' on it for stability in the ground.
Anyone out there have a set of docs for such? Wonder how many
square feet of 'tenna it will support. Plans are for a 2-el.
