Is there any reason other than cost thta all the
interconnects for multiple computers in a contest station
are done with serial links?
Looks like the requirements are very similar to those of
multiple computers in an office where ethernet (or
ethernet-like) implementations dominate.
One reason I ask is that if you decide to run an OS on
your PC that won't tolerate multiple COM ports on an
IRQ, then the cost advantage for RS-232 over a network
card vanishes.

if there's lots of interest I'll summarize and post.

A REMINDER: If you changed the name you passed in any QSO, please note that
in your log. It will keep you AND THE STATION YOU WORKED from losing credit
for that Q. Thanks.
Remember, you only have 72 hours to massage your log before e-mailing it to
n6tr@cmicro.com.
BTW, the activity was great! Participation seemed WAY up, despite spotty
conditions. Sounded like plenty of people had a lot of fun!
73 QSOs here and only one TVI complaint ;-) 73.0 --John/K2MM

How about using the VHF grid square locator designations as part of an
exchange during HF contests. It would add new excitement to Field Day and
we could all be as rare as Rhode Island, hi hi.....
Just another idea de KA7CSE....
