I bought one at the Miami Tropical Hamboree, first weekend in Feb. After
some mods - interfaced it with printer port for CT software, powered it
from Kenwood TS-430S's 8V at mic plug, made it to key PTT line (hate
VOX), I used it the following weekend in the Florida QSO Party. Other
contesters said they couldn't tell it from my "live" voice. The thing
worked great! Looking forward to this weekend in ARRL DX Phone with it..

"Niner "differentiates "nine" from "five."

You may have noticed nine and five sound about the same on voice.

This is official US gummint talk; I learned it in air traffic control school
in 1970.

I've noticed that G Gordon Liddy uses it on his radio talk show
(which I would not admit listening to, of course).

Bernie, WR3E would like to get a room to share in Stouffer's. He wants a
non-smoker who can tolerate a contester/DX'er. If you know of anything,
please email me and I'll call him.

Thanks, Larry

For my 50th birthday, my wife told me I can go anywhere I want. My
birthday is on the 2nd day of CQWW CW in 1996 ;-)

So, ..., I would appreciate any info you could send me about how I can
arrange to work the contest from some good 3-point island. I know this
is el-primo territory for CQWW but I'd sure like a crack at it before I
get too old to enjoy it.

Thanks for your help,

Larry, K3TLX
