Is AL-811 a good (simple, of course!!) amplifier for use with TS 140 S and even
with FT 1000 MP? I'm thinking to buy during Hamvention... Tnx fer any info..

Yep. I used aluminium for my bulkhead, but the idea is the same. I
also have the electric company service drop ground and the teleco ground
bonded to the same bulkhead as I'm lucky enough to have both of them
coming into the basement IN the shack.

Here's what I did.
I found some small, waterproof metal boxes with removeable lids and
mounted them OUTSIDE on the bulkhead. I machined fairly large holes
(3/4") in the bottom of these boxes and in the bulkhead itself to pass
the cables through (I "gasketed" the interface between the box and
bulkhead with GE RTV (the R E A L silicon sealer)). Inside the box, I
mounted terminal strips with MOV's to ground shunting the control lines.
Select the MOV's for whatever application is using the control line
(120VAC - 12VDC - 28 VAC - ect). I think I used 6500A units...whatever
- the bulkhead is 125' of buried cable away from the tower base.
This method insures only protected wire runs will actually go BEYOND the
bulkhead, which is the whole idea.

In addition, the HIGHEST 20 meter phone score was
turned in by a Multi/2 entry signing KF2ET. It was
higher than even LPL's total.
So there...

Your 10 ft spacing for 4x4's seems like overkill. Just use a strong
support wire and use wider spacing. Cheaper too! Can add more later if not
happy.

You're right. I better get in line so I can get my WN7IHO call

Sounds like a great little program. My check is in the mail.
I was bitterly disappointed and just yesterday I sold my CD-ROM which
I had bought in November for $39 bucks for $23.
I plan to buy the "revised" edition in Dayton and take the loss.
My server has been down for over a day and had I see your message yesterday
I think I would have kept the CD.
I wrote a long involved letter to RAC and had suggested that they
offer some type of rebate on the original program and was disappointed
with their response - no rebate was ever mentioned. I don't usally
complain about a product but I was very disappointed with the RAC product
as I guess I had expected great things from it and didn't get them I felt.
Someone saw your note here and sent me a copy on the Tri-State Packet
Cluster.
Thanks for the review even if it was too late to save from total
financial ruin. 73 de Frank ....
