Reflections from the ARRL DX SSB TEST and the FT-1000MP......
Overall I would have to say this is the best radio I have used to date.
I was able to copy very weak signals through some nasty QRM. With 100
watts I was not able to keep my frequencies as clear as I would have
liked! Even with the QRM I was able to pull out calls.
I purchased the 2.0K filter for the 2nd IF. I used it often. I wish I
had bought the other one for the 3rd IF. I will be buying it and the cw
filter for the sub rcv.
I used the DSP sparingly. I would not have worked some stations without
it. Other times it was not of much value. I had some odd types of
noise that the noise blanker would not touch. At times the DSP worked
well at fighting it.
Took me a while to figure out the Auto DSP notch. Once I did it worked
great. I always managed to be on the International tune up frequency.
My only complaint is the size of the rig. Fortunately I found a carry
bag with wheels that just fit. I was about an inch larger than the
airlines said I could have but it just fit in the overhead compartments
of a MD-88. The 757 had a bit more clearance.
Anyone wishing further comments can email me directly.
