Jim KH2D answered the oft asked question what is a "bust" in a contest. A
bust is simply a mislogged call.
LY2DR is really LY1DR. Today's log checking can quicly ferret out a bust.
But a bust can also be logging the wrong power, age.
state or whatever is the real info passed beyond 599 or 59. However be
careful, KH6CC often sends something beside 599 or 59
on 160 and one K8 sends 57 or 579 the entire contest. So a bust is qso that
has something wrong (contrast that to NIL or not in the log where there was
NO qso). Most uniques are really busts!
Listing QSOs on packet or web clusters as busts is really going too far. If
someone has the time to track a K1 and record each bust
(how does the station know its a bust...a bust only occurs after the log is
recorded and checked?) then he or she needs to find something else to do
like work the contest themselves.
