What may work better is a voice-operated (VOX!) tape recorder. It can just
sit next to or on your radio and you talk to it during a CW contest or just
out of normal pickup range during a phone contest.
Hands-free.
Of course, you will likely catch your comments about other operators but
that can and probably should be edited out....or kept for review prior to
the next contest.
