One more time... the origin of the spotting network was for club members to
assist each other to improve the over all club scores. For many years the
various rf networks that might be connected during the week for the dx'ers
to use would disconnect from each other to separate the spots into club
areas for contests. Over the years this practice faded out as the networks
became connected over the internet. Many users still believe that only
spots from their local area are worth watching and filter out spots from
farther away, but others of us have figured out how to make use of spots
from around the world.
