Audacity will convert .wav files to .mp3. After you download and
install the free open-source program Audacity, you have to also
download a free plug-in to convert to mp3 but it works quite well.
Audacity is available at http://audacity.sourceforge.net . The
plug-in, LAME for Audacity, is available here:
http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/
I have never tried it with batch files, though. I don't know about that.
