At least for US stations it's on Thanksgiving weekend. Lots of people
out of town or otherwise occupied.

I wish it was on a different weekend but it is what it is.

I did like for RTTY that you could work everyone else, even stateside
stations. I wonder if CW or SSB would adopt this rule someday. That
would be nice.
