This situation is similar to the wild enthusiasm over the IC-7300.  It
rests in ham public wild acceptance based on newness and touch screen etc.
Emotional purchases and herd effects work into the mix.
Of the rigs in its price class, I would choose the FT-3000 for features and
performance.
I challenge the average ham to tell the difference in modern rigs anyway in
normal use.
