Not true for Canadians visiting in the US. FCC Rules Part 97.119(g)
requires Canadians to put the portable designation after their home
callsign: " For an amateur service license granted by the Government of
Canada, however, the indicator must be included after the call sign."

Likewise, the Canadian regulations (RBR-4, Section 9.2) require visiting US
amateurs to put the portable designation after the call sign. This only
applies to visitors from the US, not to visitors from other countries.
