TRlog and TR4W has at least 36 message keys, F1-F12, ALT-F1--ALT-F12,
CTR-F1--CTR-F12

How do you ever fill all those up?! On Friday, November 8, 2019, 8:22:38 PM

Here is the trick I use. It depends on the fact that N1MM+ has 24
function key message memories, 12 for Run mode and 12 for S&P.

In the Run set of messages, I program F9-F12 with NR?, PR?, CK? and SEC?
respectively, both in the message itself and in the button caption. In the
S&P set of messages, I program F9-F12 with NR #, my precedence, my check
and my section respectively, again in both the message itself and in the
button caption. The extra NR before the # macro in F9 seems to help people
get synchronized to copy the number; similar tricks seem unnecessary with
the other three. Incidentally, in my S&P F2 exchange message, for similar
reasons I start with a TU, then the rest of the exchange. This is
unnecessary in Run mode since the other guy is already synched up by
hearing his call sign.

When I am running, if I need to ask for part of the exchange I use the
appropriate one of F9-F12. If I am asked for a repeat, I use the
corresponding one of Shift-F9 to Shift-F12. When I am S&P, if someone asks
me for part of the exchange I use one of F9-F12. If I need to ask for a
repeat, I use one of Shift-F9 to Shift-F12. Since they are different in the
two modes, just in case I forget which ones are which, the button captions
in the Entry window help remind me which ones are unshifted and therefore
which ones will need the shift key.

This is not original with me, but I have been doing it for so long I have
no idea who I got the idea from. Anyway, it works for me.
