I suspect that ops, new and old, use "Please copy" on SSB because they feel
uncomfortable just saying "1A Florida." Conversationally, they need
something with which to introduce the exchange. I have suggested saying,
"I'm 1A Florida." it's brief and flows comfortably.
In a real contest, they might say, "You're 59 Florida," "You're 59 05" or
"You're 59 218," depending on the exchange.
Ops saying "please copy" on CW are either pulling your leg or are in need
of serious counseling."
