I wish it was that way Jim.  I CQ'd for 6 hours in the contest Friday evening 
including over the pre-sunrise EU time. That was with pahsed T Top Verticals 
and 1/5kW.   I had 30 EU stations respond out of 500 worked.  I have only 
worked JA twice in 20 years from my VT location.  I can't speak for why the 
west coast doesn't like 160 contests but I can speak to what is actually 
happening in W1 vs what you think is happening in W1.

By the way - I have a 1000 ft terminated beverage aiming west and would be 
happy to give you that VT QRP Q on 160 if you need it.
