Charlie here is the problem: I want to connect CT to the loopback port
utilized in the VE7CC software. I have 2 different logbook programs that
have no problem with this connection but CT gives an error "can't connect".
Here are the VE7CC instructions and as I said it works very well.

With the setup shown, the program is waiting for incoming connections from
logging programs on port 7300. If the logging program is running in the same
machine, use the local telnet loopback port (127.0.0.1 :7300). If the
logging program is in a different machine, telnet to this machines IP
address at port 7300. The number of logging program connections is
unlimited. To enable or disable this feature, you need to go to
"Configuration>Ports/Logging Program>Logging Program Connection>Telnet".

  Mal:
I'll try to help, but some of what you say is confusing to me.

What cluster node are you connecting to?
Are you doing this via the normal CT connect method?
Are you running a DXSpider node on the same PC as you are running CT?
