PCMCIA slots do NOT support 54mbps.  CARDBUS slots do, they are what you
find on most laptops.  

There are no PCMCIA "A" or "G" cards that I am aware of.

Ah, I have a "g" radio slotted in the PCMCIA interface on my laptop, and
regularly see 54 Mbps from the office AP...
