After receiving this Orion 1 back from service it still does not set up
properly regardless of the repeated master resets and menu setups. One
question...if you go into menu and back the squelch down on the sub
receiver...should that eliminate any received sigs on the main
receiver...does on mine...The reason was to eliminate the noise coming in
from the sub but it seems to me that the sub is somehow combined with the
main and it is a mess.. any ideas before I either smash it or send it back

Hello,

just installed the V2 on my Orion I two days ago and it seems, the SP
behaves very different
from previous versions. No matter, what level (1...9) is set with SP, it
sounds all the same..
checked with an external receiver, not the internal MON function. Also
between words, it
looks like the Orion is increasing gain, making background noise (my Amp)
remarkably loud.

Is there any way to change to the previous behaviour? I like the old way,
hi!

Also it seems that BOTH the Auto Notch and the Manual Notch now work outside
the
AGC Loop... not good if you want to remove a S9++ carrier above a S3 signal.

On the other hand, NR seems much improved.

Gang,
I use my Orion subreceiver with my vintage AM station (currently a
Johnson Ranger and Desk KW) and would like to mute the Orion
receivers when I'm transmitting. THe only way I;ve been able to do it
is to disable the Orion TX and to close the PTT line, which is a
cumbersome solution. I'm wondering it there's an easy way to mute the
Orion by making a simple hardware modification and using the spare
RCA jack as the external mute jack? Ideally, I'd like to diasble the
receivers on mute and not just quiet the audio chain.
Tnx,

Jim W8ZR

The best way I know of is to use the PTT line as a mute line and turn TXLoop
on but have no connection between TXEN and TXOUT.
