Ed, K0IL is correct. Turns should be spaced, not close wound. However, be
sure that beginning and end of winding are separated by about 1/5 of the
core diameter or so. Yes, you can get enough distributed capacitance to
resonate the coil possibly lower in frequency than your intended use. Above
the resonant frequency it doesn't work as a choke. -- Jack, K6NY, Palomar
