Following this argument, why aren't we drilling for oil in Anwar?  Why
should a small minority of environmentalists be able to prevent the
rest of the country from getting what it wants...in this case oil?  
Look at THAT potential.  I'd love to tell the OPEC countries to take a hike.
The only difference is that amateur radio does not have the political
clout (or financial resources) that the Sierra Club, et. al. have.

You can bet that amateur radio is not considered a "critical service"
by Mr. Powell.  You can also bet that when you get S9 noise levels where
you used to have S1, they won't consider that to be an "impermissible
level" or "harmful interference".  It's far more critical to make sure
that John Doe has the bandwidth necessary to download porn 24/7.  Now
THAT's a critical service.
