Frank,
Thanks for the guidance. Those techniques are solid and wise. I am
generally concerned about any weak signal interference that could possibly
be propagated beyond the local environment.
We have all seen an increase in spectral noise floor due to the toys and
tools of our modern society. Sometimes I see it increase and when I look at
it carefully, it seems to be man-made and not natural in origin.

Thanks & 73,

Gordon:

I did not detect much energy from the mobility scooters on frequencies
outside the 30 meter band.

When I first detected the peculiar signals on 30 meters, I checked 80,
40, 20, 15 and 10 meters as well to get an idea how much of the
spectrum was affected by the source. I was hoping that I could hear it
at VHF frequencies as well. If so, it would be even easier to locate.

Alas 30 meters was affected more than any other frequency. The
mobility scooter RFI was negligible to non-existent on any other band
than 30 meters until I was practically on top of the source.

When I first noticed the interference, I had absolutely no idea what
it could be. I knew it wasn't power lines because of its
characteristics. I didn't waste any time speculating on what it might
be. Instead, I grabbed a tool and began my search. Luckily my
expanding circle search didn't take more than 15 minutes because the
sources were so close by.

Spend time searching intelligently for sources. Don't waste any time
speculating what they might be. When you find the source all your
questions will be answered.
