What does clueless mean? Maybe technical standards and the knowledge base was low in 2001 but not in 2005. I've been operating PSK31 and MFSK16 in unison with RTTY for two years and I can tell you that "most" know what they are doing now. As a matter of fact many of the PSK31 contacts that I make are with established RTTY contesters.

As far as weak signal capabilities PSK31 does blow RTTY away. Last weekend I worked the PSK31 contest and made 500+ contacts in 40 countries on 15 and 40 meters with 25-50 watts and that includes Antarctica and Easter Island. Also just this DX season I've added 10 new countries (150 now) to my 160 meter totals using 100 watts.

The premier PSK31 club is the PODXS 070 Club, I'm member #349. They sponsor PSK31 contests including the one this past weekend. The website address is
http://www.podxs.com/html/070_club.html . They also have an eGroup on Yahoo at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/070/?yguid=74377786 . Another good club for PSK31 and RTTY contest sponsorship is the Troy Amateur Radio Association at http://www.n2ty.org . They too have a Yahoo eGroup at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/psk-tara and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RTTY-TARA . Also if you want to build a homebrewed interface between your rig and computer (most PSK31 operation is via AFSK) and also need settings info for PSK31 on your FT-1000MP/MarkV/Field go to my website at:
