Hi Guys,

K9OM will be 1E from Wisconsin this year, and though mostly CW, I'll be
checking RTTY often during FD this year. I'll stay on RTTY until the Q's dry
up and then try again later.

Hope to work you on RTTY!

73,

Dick- K9OM

I am preparing two stations to be RTTY capable during field day, one for
the New Providence ARC (N2XJ) and one under my call with a few other
ops. The club endeavor is motivated primarily to interest non-digital
hams in trying RTTY and perhaps PSK. I am wondering if there is any
consensus in the idea mentioned in this reflector a few weeks ago of
checking for RTTY activity at the top of the hour during FD.

Dave: Two years ago my experience was a lot of RTTY activity, not too much
PSK.We were not set up for PSK. Last year, RTTY activity seemed much
lower, with much more PSK. Didn't have PSK last year either. This was
mostly 80 and 40. This year we'll have RTTY, so hopefully, we'll work We'll
be in South Orange.. PSK still questionable. --Mike, of K2OAK.

Make sure to include adequate PSK time. My experience is PSK is more
popular than RTTY in FD.

On an everyday basis, PSK is used much more than RTTY. RTTY is
predominately a contest mode, but not in FD. Remember, FD is not a
contest. Just
fun, sun and beer.

Good luck.

Thanks to those who responded to my query and I willelaborate on my
settings.? After downloading the Icom USB driver I have a Silicon Labs USB to
UARTbridge on Com 3 set up as rig control by Logger32.? Another Silicon Labs
USB to UART bridge is onCom 4 which I have designated on MMTTY for PTT/FSK.?
There is also a USB Audio CODEC without a specifiedCom port.? MMTTY is set
at defaultdemodulator, ?with both Rx(microphone)and Tx(speakers)
soundcards set for the USB Audio CODEC.? In the MISC setting I have1.the
TXPort on
COM-TdX(FSK)2. the SoundLoopback is set to Int.3. In the Radio Command
section, the port is set at none and nofrequency offsetThe Radio PTT option is
set to RTT by radio command, ?RTS keying and the Serial Port being Com 4
andRadio 1 uses FSK? On the IC-7100 setting I have the followingDATA? MOD ?
USBDATA OFF MOD ? USBUSB2 FUNCTION ? RTTY decodeDATA FUNCTION 1 ? OFF
?Using these settings I can receive RTTY on MMTTY and the software putsthe
rig into TX as I can see the output on my power meter but I get no
responseapart from once when I was told ?no print, no keying?? Obviously I am
missing a vital element that Icant see and hopefully it will be evident to
others who have used this setup? Thanks for reading this?Rich MW0CPZ

I am going to operate RTTY and PSK ONLY from home this year, 1D. I will be
on 24 hr in one of these modes. My experience the last two years operating
1B from different sites was more PSK than RTTY.

If you are used to working RTTY in a contest, FD is special and the normal
short exchanges are not the normal operation!

Good luck and hope to work you on FD.

We will have two full-time Rtty stations in operation this weekend at
KK5W. We will also have PSK available. ?Last year we made over 400 Q's on
rtty.?
