FYI, last night at the SEDXC meeting three votes were taken on the IARU
recommendation that CW be eliminated as a requirement for licensing below
30 Mhz. All three votes were unanimous in opposition to the IARU
recommendation. A couple of the key points made in the discussion were:
1. Although elimination of CW below 30 Mhz would not be a death knell for
CW by itself, most expressed the fear that the next step would be reduction
of band width for CW operations. Some said they would not be strongly
opposed to the proposal if it were possible to ensure band width would not
be reduced. However, all agreed that it is impossible to be sure that
would not happen.
2. CW is the universal language of hams all over the world. There are no
foreign accents in a CW signal.
