Fellow Georgia hams...
We desperately need someone to step forward and take charge of the Georgia QSO
Party. Mike NE4S jumped in last year and did a phenomenal job (thanks again,
Mike!), but as of March 2002, both Mike and his XYL will be retired and heading
for the open road in their motorhome.
In the past, we've also gotten help from K4BAI, K4EA, K4OGG and others, but "new
blood" is needed. The GQP boss needs to manage the following things, using a
combination of personal involvement and recruiting volunteers:
1. Scheduling and advance publicity
2. Web site
3. Log receipt and scoring
4. Awards and results announcements
State QSO Parties are a unique type of operating event. They give every ham in
Georgia a chance to be the center of attention! And they give contesters an
excuse to operate semi-contest style during a time of less activity (full-blown
contest style for the mobiles!). They're friendly and fun -- a couple years ago
I had a good run on 10M SSB; E-skip into the Upper Midwest with both high rate
and really nice guys (and a couple YL/XYLs) on the other end.
The bottom line is this --
IF NO ONE STEPS UP, THERE IS NO GQP.
If that's important to you, think about being in charge of this year's event.
Just post your intention to the reflector.
