Most equipment operated from 12 volts, actually is
now designed to operate on 13.8 v nominal. This has
to do with proper floating of batteries ( 6 cells @
2.3 v per cell) It is a nominal voltage and the equipment
will run fine from 11 to 15 volts, although some transmitters
may not deliver full power below 13.8 volts.
