If the 10K pot has full supply voltages applied, changing to a 5K pot
will probably not change a thing. Though if the offset tuning loads the
pot some, using a 5K pot should make it more effective, e.g. more
touchy. You probably want to unhook both ends of the pot (providing
center is the normal resting position) and add 5 K to each end to the
existing circuit. This will bandspread the pot. Just changing the pot
value won't.
