RIGblaster plus
New Digital Mode - WSJT |
Dayton, May, 2001
West Mountain Radio would like to announce our new plus model RIGblaster. We have added some frequently asked for features to
our standard model RIGblaster M8. The plus model does
everything the standard model does plus it includes the following "plus"
features:
- True FSK or CW keying from your computer's serial port to your radio's CW
or FSK jack.
This uses non sound card transmit software, the plus is not
just a sound card interface.
- 1/4" front panel headphone jack in addition to the rear panel computer
audio output jack.
- RCA phono rear panel PTT jack, perfect for contesting with a boom mic. or
foot switch.
This jack supports our exclusive PTT interrupt and PTT
override features.
- Serial port diagnostic LED's to visually verify your computer's serial
port operations.
The new RIGblaster plus is perfect for the serious
contester, CW, RTTY, or phone. Our standard models will of course do CW or RTTY
but only with CW or FSK (AFSK) tones into the mic. jack. The plus comes complete
like our standard models and is only available with 8 pin screw on mic.
connectors.

New Mode for RIGblaster - WSJT
There is an entirely new mode for RIGblasters, WSJT written by Joe Taylor
K1JT.
"Meteor scatter operation using WSJT is more fun than most anything you can
do with a radio, you never know what you'll catch!", says Del, K1UHF.
WSJT uses FSK 441, a mode written specifically for high speed meteor scatter
VHF weak signal communication. In the past hams have been bouncing signals off
of meteors (shooting stars) using SSB and high speed CW. CW originally was done
by speeding up and slowing down the CW using a tape recorder and more recently
with WinMSDSP using a sound card. WSJT uses an optimized FSK system and is much
easier to operate than HS CW with no CW proficiency. If you have a RIGblaster
hooked to a 6 or 2 meter all mode radio and an antenna, download WSJT and join
the fun. See the Op Tips Page on our web
site for a brief description, links and recorded signals.

newest RIGblasters and accessories (now with pictures) and where you can order
your own RIGblaster plus.
