Whether TenTec should or should not include a mic with a Jupiter is a
marketing choice made by them. Would it help sell Jupiters? I doubt it.
TenTec rigs used to come with cheap microphones and I do mean cheap. For the
typical appliance operator, they got you on the air fast and actually didn't
sound bad at all. BTW: There isn't much difference in communications audio
quality between a $10 mic and a $150 Heil superduper.
The IC-706 comes with a decent mobile mic which has the up-down freq.
buttons. The radio covers up to 440mhz, all mode HF, vhf etc. I've come to
the conclusion that people would buy Jupiters, mic or no mic. and they sure
don't buy it for it looks or it's features. So probably the mic. being
included or $30 price increase wouldn't matter one way or the other.
