Hi Guys,

Can't can't can't we just all get along???? booooooooo hooooooo

I believe that a few of the comments expressed on the reflector regarding
Scott/TenTec's input with regard to negative comments about one of their
products, suggest that some people might need to chill a bit. I personally
welcome input from the Ten Tec Ivory Tower and look forward to more feedback
from the Ten Tec staff.
How can any manufacturer anticipate every possible scenario with regard to
one of their products being sent to the field. Ponder the endless
possibilities with installation, antennas, power supplies, equipment location
and then factor in the operator skills and needs. Ten Tec is interested in
the feedback from their users as has always been the case. The Internet just
changes to some extend the way in which that feedback is delivered. I for one
am glad to see this type of analysis being invoked by Ten Tec. I am quite
certain they take a close look at comments to see if their might be some
possible situation where one of their products may need to be tweaked. Just
because a product goes to the field with some possible, mysterious,
unexpected problem that shows up under certain situations or in a certain
environment does not mean the product is flawed or inferior. And to the best
of my knowledge no operators of Ten Tec equipment have been hurt or killed
due to some a defect or flaw in one of their rigs. It would be wonderful if
other manufacturers such as Ford or Firestone could say the same.

I am a loyal Ten Tec fan and not ashamed to say so. I respect this company
for surviving the demise all of the other manufacturers of US amateur radio
equipment met. Yes, Elecraft is doing well but they don't yet enjoy the
longevity track record afforded by Ten Tec.
I have had almost every product that Ten Tec has made and yes they have
made some cheap stuff but when I was struggling financially to get through
school and could not afford the Drake's, Collins, Swan's and other rigs, I
was enjoying my PM-2 which was cheaply made but loads of fun. I wasn't
worried about Blocking Dynamic Range, IP2, IP3 and all of the other
specifications that we now require in order to even consider a purchase.
Forget having fun just make sure the specs are cutting-edge and that will
bring the joy we demand.
Funny thing is my most favorite memories during my last 30 plus years of
hamming were chasing my WAS with a PM-2 ,a Dry Cell battery and a 5th hand
worn out 14AVQ vertical that looked it had survived several wars. Those were
the days ! ! ! My 2) Omni 6+, 2) Paragon II's and 4) Corsair II's bring me
no more pleasure. Just not sure where I am going to put the Orion...

Good luck in the 160 Meter CW contest this weekend...

Glenn WA4AOS
