Carl has nailed the problem exactly. There is nothing you can do with your computer that is going to solve the problem.

Changing to a USB port will not help at all. The Orion serial baud rate is
fixed at 57600 baud. The problem is the Orion is not fast enough to keep up
with commands from the program because the Orion has so many things to
process.

Yes, but if I convert a USB port to a serial port, do I still obtain the
increased speed of the USB? If so, that sounds like an easy way out.
Or are you suggesting that TT change the interface to a USB type?
