Hi Gary,
Do you ALWAYS do a master reset after installing firmware? I have found this
to virtually eliminate update problems(and I've done about a hundred updates
on my radio associated w/ the beta checking program).
Anyway, I would highly recommend doing the Master Reset after firmware
update program!
Happy Holidays,

Have to admit that I'm a little slow. Know this is a SDR but guess I'm
finally beginning to understand that this is a computer--and a Windows
computer at that- where you might have to reboot, tweak the software
settings, get it right for you and pray. While using 98, 2000 and then XP
at the office for years, I've been a Mac guy at home. Bought a low end
Windows laptop just for the Orion knowing that firmware came that way as
did most ham software. ((the difference between Window and Mac is that
with the former, I wish I had a pointed hat with stars on it and a wand.
With the latter, I can usually figure it out--only cuz of experience of
course)
I was having a pretty good experience with 1.371 on the Orion when it
arrived Sept 1. "Upgraded" to 1.372 and had nothing but problems--smaller
ones but problems. Then downgraded to 1.371 and it is working better than
ever before!! Very stable, smooth and without a glitch (fingers crossed,
wand held high!) Sometimes I wonder if one shouldn't "wipe the hard
drive, and reinstall the operating system" when first receiving a radio,
just as many have recommended when first receiving a computer! Know I've
done it from time to time, whether Windows or Mac.
A year end's rambling, Gary W7TEA
