Rick, add three years for development (guessing ) and add inflation
for three years, falling value of the dollar, price will be close to
7, 900.00. If you try to price out a new Orion 2 at today's cost of
parts and boards etc., you come close to doubling the original
construction costs. (estimated )

Guys, I'm a big fan of modular, even when stating prices.
That's why I made a list beginning with a basic radio and showing the more
common options one by one.
4000 entry is too high
4000 fully loaded would be nice but I don't think that can be achieved.
Also, what is "fully loaded"? The things on my list or something more?
A nice big (but not tooooo big) box with big knobs is certainly worth $3000
to me at an entry level, single filter, single RX box. That's about 25%
more than the K3 but it's a different/better radio.
I hope the fully loaded price with all the things on my list will not exceed
$6K.

An assembled base 100W K3 is $2350 and shipping.
If that's a stretch for a customer then he should be buying an Eagle...not
an OIII An Omni VII costs more than a base K3....and is way more capable.
We don't need to take the OIII down below that....that's an unreasonable
expectation.
$4K don't leave Ten-Tec a lot of room to be a game changer. We're talking
flagship here so it won't be a radio for everyone....just as Icoms 7800,
Kenwoods 990 etc...
And making it a Cadillac at a Chevrolet price and allowing you to put the
Cadillac emblems on later is easy to do when you don't have other products
in your line to protect and work around.
Ten-Tec is not Elecraft...and I'm glad...I like big knobs and radios..and
better audio and a remote pod...
Let's not mess it up.

Won't fly.
An entry level K3 is just a little over $2000.
Well, it was when I bought mine in 2010.
May be a wee bit higher now, but nowhere near 4K.
