I don't know where in its history it started, but Ten-Tec for a long

The Ten-Tec founders Burchfield and Kahn had the resources of their profits
from ElectroVoice to finance their new company. History is littered with failed
business attempts due to undercapitalization, i.e.: Delorean, Malcolm
Bricklin's various efforts, etc.

Up until the early 1990's MFJ products were in Ten-Tec cases.
Without the case and military radio business, Ten-Tec has to make a
profit from the start, something almost impossible to do.
