It must be my lucky day. With recently announced holidays for
JY1's birthday, I'll be able to spend the rest of my time DXing and site
seeing before heading to the UK on Monday.
As you can probably tell from the cluster, I've been QRV every
morning beginning at 02Z, around 1822 khz, until 15 minutes past
sunrise. For some reason my alarm clock did not go off this morning.
The extra sleep was nice but there will be time for that when I get
home. Conditions have not been real good but I did manage to work two
North American stations, VE1ZZ and W4ZV. Last year I didn't have any
openings to NA so this is a small improvement. The noise level is still
a problem and the noise cancelling unit I brought along only provides
marginal improvement.
For the remainder of my time, I will be bouncing between 80 and 160
for certain beginning at 01Z. I will most likely be on 160 earlier
including JA sunrise. We have a pretty sensitive TVI problem which is
why I haven't been QRV earlier in the evenings.
For JA's: I do not have an external VFO with the Kenwood 830 so I
will most likely operate in the JA window. Last year I worked split by
spinning the VFO. It worked, but not very well!
Any e-mail sent to this address will not be read until I get to the
UK. Lets hope for some good openings the next few days! If not, George
JY9QJ is also qrv most every day.
