I agree with Thomas. The insensitive AM broadcast radios in many cars
coupled with minimum antenna make it easy to miss significant noise sources.
A good sensitive portable shortwave radio will do a much better job. The
only salvation about electric fences (I'm surrounded with them here in Iowa)
is the noise blanker takes them out completely. . . then you hope there
aren't too many strong signals close by on the band to overload the noise
blanker! Most electric fence problems can be identified and fixed if the
owner is at all cooperative. In any case, don't trust your AM car radio to
judge a new potential QTH.
