Bruce,  The longer you make your horizontal run the worse things get with 
respect to a low radiation angle and wasted power skyward.  My suggestion 
for an inverted L is to fold back the top horizontal portion for a 50 foot 
open section with the outside floating at the top but connected at the far 
end.  You still have 100 feet or so of top loading but the skyward 
radiation is significantly reduced allowing the current loop to appear 
higher on the vertical section.  Even a wire T is better than and L  on 160 
since the horizontal flat top will not radiate as much.  This is exactly 
what you want to happen for better DX. work.  If it is just for local 
contacts then the high angle sky warmer will seem better at night.
