With the FT-1000MP in contests, I simply use the sub VFO for transmitting
and the main VFO for receiving. "Wiggling" the main VFO easily finds
those off-frequency callers even when using ultra-narrow filters, and the
transmit frequency stays unchanged. I find that this method does not
slow down the QSO rate at all. Using this method in 160-meter contests
recently, I set a division record in the ARRL 160, had the multiop world
high score in the Stew Perry, and won the Zone 03 plaque in the CQ 160
CW.

Some users probably use the RIT to accomplish the same thing, but I
prefer using the big knob, hi.
